Nine engineers · Pune · since 2018
About us
We are a small PHP and WordPress engineering company in Pune. Nine salaried people, no sales team, published rates, and a deliberate decision not to grow faster than we can hire people we would want reviewing our own code.
- We publish our rates
- A hidden rate can be adjusted per client. Ours cannot, including for the clients who would have paid more.
- We publish the bench
- Competitors recruit from that page. You get to see who you are buying before you commit.
- We do not employ salespeople
- Enquiries are read by engineers. It makes us slower to grow and faster to answer a technical question.
- We say no in writing
- Roughly one enquiry a fortnight gets told to buy something cheaper, or nothing at all.
- We assign IP on the first commit
- Not on final payment. It removes the leverage most agencies quietly rely on.
- We put a penalty on our own dates
- Ten per cent of the final invoice per week late, capped at thirty. Invoked once in four years.
Why we exist
Started because offshore development deserved better than its reputation
Two of us had spent years inside larger Indian services firms, watching the same pattern: a good technical team, a sales layer that promised whatever closed the deal, and a client who found out in month three that the engineer they interviewed was on a different project. The engineering was rarely the problem. The commercial structure around it was.
So we built the opposite: no sales team, published rates, named engineers, and every commercial promise written into the contract rather than said on a call. It is a slower way to grow a company. Nine people in eight years is not a growth story, and it is the only version of this we wanted to run.
The work that found us is mostly inherited: a PHP application that earns money and frightens everyone, a WordPress site with forty plugins, a CodeIgniter app nobody has updated since 2019. That suits us. Rescue work rewards people who read carefully and are honest about risk, which is what we hire for.
We are not trying to become a hundred-person agency. We are trying to be the team a CTO recommends to another CTO, which requires being small enough that the people who answer your email are the people who write your code.
Two thirds of our work in the last two years came from a referral or a repeat client. That is the only marketing metric we watch.

How we work
Four rules we have not broken
Each of these has cost us a deal we wanted. That is roughly how you know a value is real.
Nobody works on two clients at once
A dedicated engineer is dedicated. It halves our theoretical utilisation and it is the single thing clients notice most.
We quote what it costs, not what you can afford
We do not ask your budget before pricing. The number is the number, and it is on the rates page before you call.
We recommend against ourselves when it is right
A theme and a freelancer, a plugin off the repository, or leaving a working system alone. Said on the first call, free.
We never take a client’s client
The non-solicit in our agency MSA runs both ways, and we have turned down direct work from an agency’s client twice.
